In Manitoba, women are a step closer to being considered equal to men.

There was a time when a woman living in Manitoba lost most of her legal rights respecting property when she married. All her property, for example, became legally vested in her husband.

Things began to change in Ontario, in 1884. The Married Women's Property Act S.M. 1900, c.27 gives married women in the province the same legal capacity as men.

That means they can make legal agreements and buy property - just like a Caucasian man. One small step for women...
